No Contract With My Gas or Electric Supplier

No Contract With My Gas or Electric Supplier.

I asked the power company to supply my gas and electric about 15 years ago at my new house.
I never signed anything with them they just came and sorted me out.
If I stop paying the bills they send what likely things might happen?
At present, there are 4 people who live here - two adults and two children under 16.
I am not trying to be awkward but I have heard that some others are not paying for their supplies.
If they are then what has happened to them since?
Are they really not paying for gas and electric and in some cases the water too?
If they are not paying are they still being supplied with the services?
What would be the timescale for the utility companies to attack me and my family should I stop paying them?
Would I be right in thinking that because these services are essential to our survival that they should be supplied to us for free anyway?

You have a verbal contract so pay your bills or they will take you to court.

Yes, you will end up in court if you don't pay your utility bills.
The debts you owe will then multiply.
The courts of course will profit as well being the business they are.
I would love to think that we could get away with not paying for these essential services but as yet I believe no one has cracked the system.
As I understand it, our bills have already been paid for and once you pay these companies you are paying them again.
Not only that, someone was trying to explain that they get paid a third time as well but I couldn't follow that bit.
But yes, we still need to pay the utility companies for the time being unless everyone at once decided not to.
These services are vital to life as we know it and the government, who are there to serve and protect us, should be providing them for free.
The reason I say that is because if you go back a few centuries then for millions of years previously we free human beings (and our predecessors) were able to look after ourselves.
Now that nearly every bit of land has been grabbed and is "owned" by someone we can't forage for food and shelter.
So, if these people in their ivory towers want to rule over us they should give us the essential services necessary for life.
Its as simple as that.
The only problem is they have us like slaves and make you work hard in order to survive.
All the time though, these people at the top are profiting from everything we do.
My advice to most is to pay your bils on time and leave it to the pioneers who will eventually crack the system.

The way I see it is that if you do not have a contract with someone with your signature and their signature then there is no contract.
I could be wrong with the way this government dictates to us and with all these precedents but two signatures will be needed to make a contract valid?

Unfortunately things have changed over the years.
Pay your bills on time and as been noted wait until others in this field have sussed out the situation.
The last thing you want to do is give the courts and others more money.
The courts, remember, are just a business making money for themselves.

Its no good messing about if you don't know what you are doing.
If you are using gas and electricity then pay for it.
Learn how to economise if you are having difficulties.
As been pointed out previously you can find yourself in more bother if you with old payment.
I agree that these things are necessary for us to survive in this day and age.
If anyone does know of people not paying legitimately without problems I would like to know

Thanks for the input.
I will continue to pay the bills as I have no evidence as yet that we can or should stop paying them.
Its like my dear old father said though, If I cant see the gas or electric, why should I pay for them

Even in the days of the old gas meters you still had to pay - even if you managed to open them and take the odd shilling out to get some tea and sugar

You are no mug as I say just leave the pioneering stuff to those who know what they are doing.

Have a look at this video I found.
They are saying that all our utility bills are already paid.
Energy is free for everyone.
Apparently, according to these people, our utility bills are already paid.
People like these are in the forefront of all this freeman on the land stuff.
They are talking about the birth certificate and how it is worth millions from your birth account bond.
